Satellite band averaged data: water-leaving radiance, surface irradiance
and solar normalized water-leaving radiance. These values are given as the mean flux (not the total flux)
for each band. The total and in-band averages are calculated for each satellite.
A separate data listing (denoted by it's hour) is presented when MOBY collects more than one file per day.
Six water-leaving radiances can be calculated from different
combinations of MOBY four radiance collectors. The best water-leaving radiance
is Lw1, determined from the upper two arms. If MOBY's top arm is damaged then Lw7 is included.
During this deployment the mid-arm was severely damaged resulting in loss of LuMid. At the same time
the LuTop fiber was severed. The only upwelled radiance data come from the bottom arm, LuBot, and we have
no means to calculate Kl and water leaving radiance, Lw.
To provide Lw for the calibration process we use the 5-year monthly mean Kl to propagate the bottom arm Lu data
to the surface. This Lw is called Lw10. The 5-year monthly mean Kl3 was calculated for each MOBY hour
(20, 22 and 23). Because the 23 hour files have been collected only since May 2002, not enough good Kl exist
to produce a stable mean Kl for this hour. The zenith angle for 20 and 23 hour files are very similar,
and we propagate the 23 hour MOBY LuBot data to the surface using the 20 hour mean Kl3.
Lw1 is the Water-Leaving Radiance calculated from LuTop and Kl1(LuTop-LuMid)
Lw7 is the Water-Leaving Radiance calculated from LuMid and Kl3(LuMid-LuBot)
Lw10 is the Water-Leaving Radiance calculated from LuBot and Kl3 (5-year monthly mean)
